Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and the surrounding Southeast region has seen some positive business growth in the last year. By way of example, Innovairre reported adding at least 100 new employees to its roster. The digital printing company has invested a reported $15 million in its Mt. Pleasant facility. Continental’s Mount Pleasant, IA, plant, its premier North American manufacturing facility for industrial and automotive hose products, celebrated its 40th anniversary recently. It too has invested heavily in expansion and now employs more than 260 people.
As Mayor Steve Brimhall stated a year ago, the city has been working hard to bounce back from an economic down turn. The decision was made to invest in infrastructure, renovating roads and completing community beautification projects. The effort is obvious this spring as numerous new street improvements are under construction. It looks like the effort is paying off as economic growth is projected to continue. There is particular excitement and focus on bringing the tech sector to Southeast Iowa, where it has never gained a strong foothold before.
